Red Alert: Stella McCartney is releasing replicas of the reception wedding gown that Meghan Markle wore to celebrate her marriage to Prince Harry on May 19.
The British fashion brand has announced that they will be selling $4,600 replicas of the now iconic high-neck silk sheath that Markle sported to dance the night away. But here’s the catch: only 46 lucky customers will be able to get their hands on one.
In order to snag a gown, shoppers will only be able to view the pieces by appointment — and they will only be able to see the gowns if they have received a personal reply from McCartney upon request.
The simple and elegant gown will be available as part of McCartney’s “Made with Love” collection, which is launching to coincide with the opening of the line’s new Old Bond Street global flagship store.
On her now iconic design for the Duchess of Sussex, McCartney told the BBC, “It was very much her dress, and I felt very proud that she came to me for that part of the wedding, and that she got to reflect [herself] in it.”
McCartney also spoke to Vogue about her decision to make the dress available to shoppers saying, “I knew when I was working on the dress with Meghan that it was beautiful. I knew it would be a dress that people would want, and, in that moment, you can think, ‘Nobody can have it!’, or you can share it.” Seems she decided that sharing is caring.
