A spokesperson for the couple told The Telegraph on Wednesday, June 27, that Lena is pronounced Lay-na. Elizabeth is, of course, in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
Olympic British equestrian Zara, 37, and her husband Mike Tindall, 39, are also parents of 4-year-old Mia. Lena is the fourth grandchild for Zara’s mom, Princess Anne, and the seventh great-grandchild for the 92-year-old monarch and Duke of Edinburgh. Mike told Hello! in 2014 that his wife of nearly seven years is “very close to her grandmother.”
Zara and Mike suffered a devastating miscarriage in December 2016, shortly after announcing their pregnancy news. In an interview last year, Mike revealed that Mia was their “saving grace” during the difficult time.
“However down we feel she will come running up in our faces. When I was playing I hardly saw her; now we see her grow up. I take her swimming and I can take her to Ninja Tots,” he told the Sunday Times. “You’ll never be able to see her because she disappears in a puff of smoke.”
Meanwhile, it only took Zara and Mike nine days to announce Lena’s moniker. With Mia, they kept the public waiting for six weeks in 2014 before Mike unveiled it on Twitter!
